Kristin Abernathy, LGPC
Kristin Abernathy is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor who works with children ages 9 and older, adolescents, adults, and couples navigating life transitions, stress, emotional regulation, and identity development. She holds a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Bowie State University, a Master of Business Administration from Strayer University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Purdue University.
Ms. Abernathy takes a thoughtful and grounded approach to therapy, helping clients gain insight into patterns that may be contributing to emotional or relational challenges while developing practical and sustainable strategies for change. She integrates person centered, cognitive behavioral, and narrative approaches, tailoring her work to each client’s developmental stage, needs, and goals.
Ms. Abernathy has a particular interest in supporting children and adolescents as they build emotional awareness, coping skills, and confidence. She also works with adults and couples who are balancing multiple responsibilities, navigating change, or seeking greater clarity and alignment in their personal and relational lives. She values collaboration and works to create a therapeutic space where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered.
Prior to entering the counseling field, Ms. Abernathy worked as a professional organizer, an experience that continues to inform her clinical work. She is especially attuned to the connection between environment, routines, internal narratives, and overall well-being.
